Today’s khutbah is particularly difficult given the circumstances. That many of you have been following in the news that are coming out of France. It’s a… it’s a circum… a scenario and a circumstance that Muslims have not faced for the first time. This is something that’s been ongoing.

And any of you that have come into consciousness and adulthood in the last 30, 40, 50 years have seen this play out over and over and over again. And we find ourselves in the same exact scenario yet again, where someone has attempted to what is in their mind and insult to our Messenger (ﷺ).

Other attempts to do some things. These kinds of things are attempts to dishonor the Qur’an in some way, burn a copy of the Qur’an, or humiliated at some way, or speak ill of the Prophet (ﷺ), by way of caricature, or words, or publications, or whatever it may be.

But this is something that is a recurring phenomenon. It’s a seasonal thing. It happens time, and time, and time again. And we find ourselves deeply frustrated. It’s… it goes without saying that no Muslim, no one who believes, and loves his Messengers (ﷺ). It’s a part of our iman.

Iman is Only Beautiful When You Have Love for Rasulullah (ﷺ)

“That Allah made iman beloved to us and He beautified it in our hearts.”

That statement in Surat Al-Hujuraat as I’ve said before. It comes from the ayah that tells us that he is the messenger of Allah among us. Meaning, iman is only beautiful when you have love for Rasulullah (ﷺ). And it’s very ob… more than obvious for any of you that are Muslim, that are listening right now.

That if somebody, you were walking down the street, and somebody humiliated your mother, your sister, your wife, your daughter. You would not just walk by. You would not… not be offended. You wouldn’t just say, “Oh, the rest of the family have sabr, it’s okay.”

You wouldn’t do that. It’s not something that is, that’s… You know, and if you would do that, there would be something wrong with you. Because part of being, having honor is to protect those that you honor. This is not just something Muslims carry by the way. This is something people of other faith carry.

You… you could be… Some guy could be with his girlfriend at a bar and some guy looks at her funny. And he says, “What are you looking at?”

“Are you disrespected, you know, my wife or my girlfriend?”

And they’ll start to fight. Happens all the time. When you’re protective over someone. When you have honor for someone. When they are yours and you are theirs, then you do not tolerate someone humiliating them.

So the idea that Muslims shouldn’t be offended, that’s something like that is done. Let’s just cast that out of the way. Let’s first cast that. And you know what? The… there’s more to see, right?

Because if I say that we’re offended, am I condoning the heinous satanic act of killing somebody because they insulted Rasulullah (ﷺ). No… and no Muslim ever does. No Muslim who knows anything about the book of Allah whatever actually do that.

And I would challenge you, if you think you know the book of Allah and you think that’s okay, because then you don’t know the book of Allah. I would challenge if you even believe in it, if you think that’s okay.

If you think killing an innocent person is okay or killing someone for the… for the ideas that they carry. No matter how much you disagree with them, that giving them any bodily harm is okay for you.

Islam is a Battle of Ideas

Islam is a battle of ideas. It doesn’t need somebody’s hands to win. Rasulullah (ﷺ) was given the Qur’an and the Quraish didn’t know how to handle it. They didn’t know how to respond. So they decided to resort to violence to shut the Qur’an down. But Allah did not have to reveal for Rasulullah (ﷺ) to fight the Quraish in Mecca because the Qur’an was so powerful. That they first:

They couldn’t dismiss it, it wouldn’t go away.

They tried to make fun of it, it wouldn’t go away.

They tried to call it poetry, it wouldn’t go away.

They call it magic, it wouldn’t go away.

They called him a liar, it wouldn’t go away.

They’re like, “We got to beat up his followers!”

It’s not going away.

“No, you know what? We have to kill him.”

“This is not going away.”

And Allah, all of that time, in all of that time, the only thing Allah give His Messenger (ﷺ) is the book of Allah which kept on strengthening those who believed and it kept on disturbing those who don’t. It kept on disturbing them.

The words of Allah were more powerful of response than any violence they came up with. This… this is the sirah of our Messenger (ﷺ). When the time for words was over, when finally Allah revealed for the Prophet (ﷺ) to leave.

And for Allah… when Allah revealed for the Prophet (ﷺ), to pick up arms because it was revelation that told him to do so. That was a different era altogether. But let’s start with the basics because you know… I expect Muslims and non-Muslims are listening to what I’m saying right now.

So let’s get some things out of the way. I am not here to state the obvious, even though… and I… Once I do state the obvious, I’ll tell you why that is wrong. For one fifth of the world’s population to be expected to say, “We condemn the killing of an innocent human being.”

“We condemn the killing of a teacher.”

“We condemn killing inside of a church.”

For us to be… and until I come out and condemn that, there’s something guilty about me. I’m hiding some sort of an agenda, right? Because now I represent the most psychotic neurotic person you can find that carries the name of a Muslim, or says a phrase that a Muslim would say, and therefore their behavior is something I need to distance myself from.

Because there’s a commonality between them and me. They use the word Allah that I use. Therefore I am half guilty already. Therefore I must prove my innocence first.

The killing of one innocent human being is disgusting. I believe in the Qur’an which when it came, Allah (عَزَّ وّ جَلَّ) told his Messengers (ﷺ) to speak up for the baby girl that’s being buried alive by the pagan Arab, who was born in a pagan family, who had nothing to do with this religion.

“The Qur’an told me to come and speak about the one who the orphan that was being pushed around, the orphans of pagan, and the one pushing him as a pagan.”

And the Qur’an came and didn’t say, “Well, they are Muslim, therefore you should stand up for them.”

We stand for it. No human life is worthless. Muslim or non. That’s the Muslim view. So lets… lets… and you know what? My intention is even to talk to Muslims in this point. I’d like to remind Muslims at this point. That every single life, the taking of one’s life.

Is Allah’s words. And Allah’s words are above your feelings. No matter what you think of non-Muslims. No matter what you think of them. That’s… that’s first. Lets… let’s be clear about that.

But let’s not be children either. And I’m sorry some things I’m going to say today, maybe offensive to some. But I’m actually not really sorry. These are the things that are brewing inside me for a long time.

And I expect, and I know… I’ll also give some disclaimers and I pray Allah to give me clarity of thought. I will give some disclaimers. I don’t claim that I have the answers to this problem. I do not claim this. I can claim that I have some observations and they’re very painful observations.

Our Prophet (ﷺ) Cannot Be Insulted

First and foremost, when something like this happens, when there’s an attempt to insult our Messenger (ﷺ), who by the way, cannot be insulted. You can say whatever you want.

“They can… they try to blow. They want to blow out Allah’s light with their mouths. Allah will complete His light.”

You can’t do anything about it. You could say, “I hate the sun.”

It’s still going to shine way bright above your head. You could spit at it. The spit would fall right back on your own face.

When people came to Rasulullah (ﷺ), cursing him and speaking like… poetry was made against him. Instead of Muhammad (مُحَمَّدٌ), the praise one. (مُذَمَّمٌ), the condemned one. He would literally respond, “They must be talking about someone else, because my name is Muhammad (مُحَمَّدٌ).”

You could pick whatever drawings you want. First of all, you don’t know anything what the Prophet looked like anyway. But you know what those pictures really are? They are reflection of how they see Muslims. That… that’s… that’s what it is. But… but… beyond that, what is… Let’s talk a little bit about Muslim responses.

Well, our response is, “Boycott French products!”

Or, “Let’s protest against what’s happened!”

“Let’s call for a protest!”

Have we done gone on this road before? Man, if you want to boycott, do it. If you want to protest, do it. But, is that it? That’s it?

“No, I’m not buying Chanel perfume anymore?”

“I’ve done my job.”

“I’m good.”

Or, “I put some angry face emojis on social media.”

“I’m done! I’ve done my part.”

Or what else do you want to say? And what’s the… What’s the third option? That we should take matters in our own hands? We should respond. We should let them know how angry we are. And let me tell you something about that from the other side.

They Know How We Operate

You know? Nations around the world are very familiar. They’re not… they’re not stupid. Governments, educational institutions. They’re not stupid. They know how we operate. I’ve seen it from the inside. I’ve seen research done on Muslim communities that is so exhaustive about what are the different psychological states of different kinds of Muslims.

What are traditional? What the traditional Muslims think like? What the progressive Muslims think like? What the proactive acade… you know, activist Muslims think. They categorize us. They study us like lab rats. They’ve got their research on us. They got us figured out.

And you know why they have us figured out? Because they know exactly what kinds of reactions we’re going to have, how to play a game. That’s been done over and over again. It’s not once. It’s been done dozens of times.

Are there elements within the Muslim community of people that are pretty much psychotic? Pretty… murderous, shayatin that wear the label of Islam, that wear a label of Muslim? Yes.

And are they looking for an excuse of provocation to do something that’s already brewing inside them? They just need a justification. Yes. Yes, they are.

And once they take such an action, such a disgusting satanic act of killing somebody, the disgusting satanic act of beheading somebody. Once they do that, well, you know what?

That opens up another flood gate of opportunity for some other people because they know we’re not… The Muslims are not out to behead people. They already know that. They’ve done their research. Believe me. They know. They’ve surveyed our communities. They know. What they do know though is… Islam is… It’s not losing its original flavor fast enough.

These people still want to eat halal meat. These women still want to wear hijab. These guys still aren’t, you know… they’re… they’re still dressing modestly. They’re still going to the mosque. The churches are empty. That’s okay. (But) these mosques are still filling up. You know. And this… This is… it’s not a good look for us.

It’s a good… It looks good when we call nice their lands, and then impose our will, and our education systems on them, and teach them that Arabic is not important. The prayer, the Qur’an is not important. Learn French, learn English, learn German so you can move up in the world.

“But when we bring these backwards villagers to our countries, then they need to get with the times and modernize themselves.”

“If they’re still holding onto the religion, they must be extreme in some way.”

“So, let’s first, make sure we demonize them by calling them extremists.”

Right?

“And justify the most… the most evil among them, or any… the crazy among them.”

“Let’s find some case, and that will justify how we deal with all of them.”

“All of you are crazy until we say otherwise.”

Right?

There are plenty of countries in the world today where if you pray five times a day you’re an extremist. Plenty of countries where you get questioned.

“Do you, do your parents pray at home?”

“They pray?”

There are people in the countries in the world where if you dress a certain way, you’ll be followed around. It’s a reality. There are countries in the world where you can’t get certain jobs. There’s no way you’ll get into certain institutions, certain places because of you’re Islam, because you’re wearing your Islam outright.

You need to hide it. You need to be scared of it. You need to let it go. And that this… this idea of, you know… you know, insulting someone in the name of free speech. The hypocrisy of it is so loud. It’s so incredibly loud. Today there’s a political movement against racism. So if someone even in this country were to say something racist, outright racist, there would be a public outcry.

“No, you can’t say that.”

“You can’t teach that in schools.”

“You’ll lose your job.”

Why? Because it’s against the sensitivity of a certain group of people. You have them feeling inferior. And that’s absolutely correct. But now… for Muslims, fair game, right? You can offend them all you want. Cause they’re… you… they’re probably extremist anyway.

“They need to learn to get with… to get the program with the rest of us.”

What Is Our Response Supposed to Be Besides Beyond Anger?

This is the position we get, keep getting put into. But what is our response supposed to be besides beyond anger? Beyond protest? How many… how many hours are you going to stand outside with a picket sign? What is our…

We’re one fifth of the world’s population. We have the most powerful document in existence in our possession and we recite it rigorously with our hearts and souls. And we can’t come up with a better solution? We can’t come up with something smarter? Now what are we going to do? We put the expectation on Muslim governments, right?

Muslim countries should boycott all trade with these countries until they apologize for what they did. We should, you know… cut off our… our… you know… trade routes and airspace from them. And we should, you know… put sanctions among them. Good luck with that.

You… you can ask that all you want. That’s not how the real world works, and let’s grow up and realize that. Instead of saying what the Muslim governments should do, and should do, and should do. Let’s just kind of look at reality for what it is.

So… what are we supposed to do then? What in the world are we supposed to do? You know, what we should do? We should do the thing that pleases Allah the most and the thing that Kuffar who hate Islam, hate the most. The thing that Allah loves the most. The one that the thing that the Kuffar hate the most.

There’s a phrase about that in Suratul Fath. Allah describes the Prophet (ﷺ) as a farmer. He says,

“The farmer is impressed with the crop and as the crop cultivates and grows, it angers the Kuffar.”

It angers the disbelievers. Why is this crop growing and maturing? Why is it maturing? What is the maturity of the crop that the Prophet (ﷺ) raised? Study that ayah carefully and you’ll find, it’s how he cultivated his companions

The Qur’an was flowing through their veins. They understood what this worldview is and they understood with it confidence. This is the time for you and me to show how much Islam is an inseparable part of our identity. And an inseparable part of our identity for generations to come.

If you’re somebody who was barely praying, you should say, “You know what?”

“Because you hate my Islam so much. Now I’m going to pray five times.”

You were thinking about hijab, you’re not sure about.

“You know what? Because you hate Islam so much, and because you want me to let it go, now I’m going to wear even more.”

“Now I put it on.”

I was thinking about my beard.

“Nope. Now it’s coming.”

“Because I will offend you with what makes Allah happy.”

“What I think what brings me closer to my Prophet. I will offend you with it.”

“You like offending him?”

“Oh, I love offending you when you hate him.”

“I’ll offend you by deepening my roots in this book.”

“I’ll offend you by completely transforming how I think about educating myself.”

“How I think about educating my children.”

“I will change…”

“I will, at least in my family.”

“I’ll change the trajectory of what kind of Muslims we look like in 10 years.”

“How educated we are.”

“How strong we are in our faith.”

“I will do that for my family, I’ll do that for my community.”

You want, these, all of these acts, these acts of provocation, what’s the purpose of them? The purpose of them is to say, “These people don’t belong in our society.”

“So let’s just show how crazy they are, so we can find some kind of legislative way, or social pressure way of getting rid of them, or scare them enough, so that they look more French and less Muslim.”

“They become more like us and less like themselves.”

“Once we can accomplish that, then we’ll be okay. Because if you look like us and act like us, and basically accept cultural enslavement.”

Right?

“Because your ideas are offensive, ours are, you know, the progression of the human race.”

“So if you look at the world the way we do, then you have finally joined the rest of us in civilization. Because you backward people, need to get with the program, right?”

Why is it Not the Time for Us to Demonstrate?

Well, you know what? Why… why is it that it’s not time that we demonstrate? That the most intelligent human beings, the most civilized human beings, the most balanced human beings, the most mature human beings are people who carry this faith. They were the most stable of them all. It doesn’t matter what society we go to, we are big assets. Because of how we carry ourselves. We don’t have to prove ourselves to anybody. We don’t have to…

The speeches aren’t going to do that. Press releases aren’t going to do that. Articles aren’t going to do that. Videos aren’t going to do that. You know who’s going to do that? The way you carry yourself. The way you run your business. The way you started institutions.

I would argue that Muslims need to know, what… what the ayah I read to you from Suratul Ra’d is a blueprint. Qur’an was offensive. It was offensive. Why was it offensive? Because it was going inside the hearts. If the Qur’an sitting on a shelf, it’s not offensive to anyone.

Rasulullah (ﷺ) is not offensive to anyone because he’s a figure in history. He’s gone. When the… when will these… Why are these things offensive? Well, there’s a legitimate reason they’re offensive. And there’s an evil reason they’re offensive. Let’s be honest about that too.

The legitimate reason these things are offensive is because Muslims misrepresent them. And they engage in corruption, evil, alienation. They engage in all kinds of things that are anti-Islam in the name of Islam.

And that’s when non-Muslims sit down and say, “This is what their religion is?”

“This is what they want?”

“They are a plague on our society.”

And you know what? When Muslims act a certain way they do act like a plague on society. That’s a fact too. But there’s another reason. There’s plenty of Muslims that are not a plague on society. There’s a vast majority of Muslims that are an asset to any society. There are sorts of goodness in any society. There are sorts of justice in any society. Fairness in any society.

Those Muslims that are… now they need to be stronger than they ever have been. They need to toughen up like they never have before. I’m reminded of Hamzah (رضي الله عنه) who wasn’t even Muslim.

But when he found out his prophet, his… his nephew has been offended. He’s like, “Oh yeah?”

“Well, I’m Muslim now.”

I was kind of thinking, “Now, now what!?”

“Now what?”

It’s time for the “now what response” from the entire Muslim community, from the entire Muslim world.

The Game Plan

And the last thing I want to tell you. Well, there’s lots to talk about here, but… Like what I really want to share with you is… The game plan.

The game plan that they have for the world. And Islam is just one part of that for them. They’re not out to get Islam. They just… They don’t want anything that gets in the way of… The… the… the…

You know, rapidly increasing and consumer culture, where all of you are just there… You live, your existence is there the by products, until… to be materialistic consumers. That’s all, you are a number. That’s all you are. You mean nothing else.

The… the worldview we have. The way we look at society, ourselves. The way we look at truth. It represents a problem, because we’re not materialistic in that one. We’re not cheap. We’re independent thinkers. We’re critical. We’re analytical. We think about justice and injustice. It represents a problem.

You know what? If those things are a problem. It’s a problem for those who engage in injustice. It’s time we show everybody around us, what Islam really is. You think they have propaganda machinery, they can put a cartoon on a government building and the world will get the wrong picture of who the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is? No.

The world gets the wrong picture of who Rasulullah is. The world gets the wrong picture of about what the Qur’an is because the Muslims don’t represent them properly.

One and every five persons on this planet is a Muslim. We have plenty of spokespeople on this planet to represent what the Qur’an really is? What Islam really is? No force in media has that kind of following. Nobody has those kinds of numbers. We do. It’s time we act and we show what it was. We stood for it. We spoke of it.

I… I talk about the Qur’an. I talk about Rasulullah (ﷺ) with anybody I deal, with any business I do. You know, I just have somebody do some work on our campus. Non-Muslim guy. I don’t… I don’t preach Islam to them. But you know what? Any chance I get should I say, “Hey, I forgot to send you an invoice, you know, but payment was due last week.”

And I immediately write back to him, “Man, our teaching is our Prophet taught told us before the sweat dries up, you should pay the worker.”

“We’ll take care of it right away.”

And he just writes back, “Man, I wish other people follow this teaching.”

Right? This is what we got to do now. We have to introduce the Prophet (ﷺ) with the way we do business. You have to introduce the Prophet (ﷺ) in the Qur’an with the way we carry ourselves in society. We are now its ambassadors.

Stop thinking that governments will come in and help. Stop thinking that billionaires will come in and help. Stop thinking that media organizations will come in and help. You are the media. I am the media. And we’ve got to do what does not dissuade us from this nonsense. This nonsense.

These people… these… these attacks on the Prophet (ﷺ). These attacks on the Qur’an will never get rid of the Qur’an. They will never reduce the status of the Prophet (ﷺ). Never! What they will do is they will desensitize us over time because we’ll start thinking, “What can we do?”

“What can we do? What can we do?”

Right? And everything we do nothing changes because we’re back in the same situation. When a person tries to do something and they end up in the same situation over time. And they just say, “What’s the point?”

Right? What’s their biggest success? We become hopeless. But if you’re in the middle of planting a seed, and people are distracting you, and then you’re still planting a seed. And they said, “What are you doing?”

“It’s not even a tree yet!”

And you’re not just… You’re not bothered by it. You’re just watering the soil because these people that want to keep this place a desert.

A Qur’anic Response

When that tree comes out, and it won’t go anywhere, and its fruits keep coming out, then… Maybe our response is a slow response. It’s a measured response, it’s a Qur’anic response.

The ayah read to you in Suratul Ra’d, – and I’ll end with it – is

Man! You know how Allah describes the coming of the Qur’an in Mecca? Allah says Allah sent water from the sky and the valleys got flooded. The valleys got flooded. You know what that is an image of? Qur’an came from the sky and Mecca got flooded. People even who hated… who hated Islam knew about the Qur’an now. They couldn’t get it out of their head.

They are phrases in the Qur’an that got repeated so much, they became coin phrases in Mecca. Even musyrikuun, they’re like, “How is this happening?”

“Why is this happening?”

“How do we put a stop to it?”

You think Rasul (ﷺ) was offensive? The… the most, the kindest human being that ever lived, (رحمة للعالمين) rahmatul lil ‘aalamiin. The people that they trusted, (صادق) and (أمين)? They hated him so much, right?

You know what that means? There’s nothing wrong with you. You can be the nicest person, you can be the kindest person, you can be the one looking out for them. More than anyone else. But once you stand by this book. You are public enemy number one.

This… this is unpopular, this is against our society, this is uncivil, this is a threat. Whether it’s a threat or not is not even the point. And when… when some… will act in that evil way that some have to wreak havoc on the rest of the community, then all they needed was that justification to be able to label everybody else. And now you’re too busy unlabeling yourself and I’m too busy unlabeling myself.

“No, no, no, no!”

“We’re not those crazy people.”

“No, no, no, Islam doesn’t say that.”

“No, Islam hasn’t said that for a millennium and a half.”

“Read.”

“No, no, no scholars said that.”

No civiliza… Muslims have been a part of the civilization of Europe, of Africa, of Asia. Continents. Islamic scholarship isn’t an Arab scholarship. It’s an international, multi civilizational scholarship that has thrived alongside Jewish, and Christian communities, and Hindu communities, and Buddhist communities for centuries upon centuries upon centuries. There’s a history.

And for us to think that… somehow we have to put… get on that. Either we have to get on the back foot and apologize for being Muslim, or we have to… (hit a table) you know, justify the insanity. As if Allah does not give us a response.

We Need to Stop Being Reactive

We need to stop being reactive. When something… “Somebody needs to say something!”

Stop thinking like that. What is that going to do?

I’m talking to you. Like if you and I were sitting in a restaurant together, and at six feet apart, you’re telling me, “What are we supposed to do!?”

“Why don’t you issue a statement!?”

“Okay, I’ll issue a statement, then what?”

“What’s going to happen?”

“You’re going to read this statement and say, ‘Oh, he issued a statement.'”

“Oh, we’re okay now.”

This is how we think now? This is our response? Is that what Allah (عَزَّ وّ جَلَّ) expects from us? Is that what He wants from us? Show the strength of Islam with how you live. You live. This is a battle for the heart and mind of the individual. Don’t forget that. That’s the real battle.

And that… It doesn’t matter if you live in Europe. It doesn’t matter if you’re in Africa. It doesn’t matter. And by the way, let’s… let’s face the hypocrisy. It doesn’t matter, if you’re in a Muslim country, where you can get fired for not going to the Christmas party because that’s the reality in the Muslim world, too. Because you’re not getting with the program. This is not just a Western… “The Western is trying to westernize Islam!”

Please. There are plenty of people and plenty of continents other than Europe, Muslims that are more enslaved to Western domination in their head that even politically. And they’re imposing that will on to society. They’re imposing that onto society.

Whose slave are you? You have to really ask yourself that question. What is your life supposed to mean? How will you make the… the power, and the beauty, and the universal messaging of this religion be seen for what it really is. Just for what it… It represents in reality. How am I going to do that? How are you going to do that?

When we put our heads down and we put ourselves to work like that, then the noise will come and go. I read that. I keep referring to it. I didn’t even get through the whole ayah, but… I just one… one… One thing I’ll mention.

“A smart person can take a hint.”

What does Allah say?

He says…

Let this part sinks inside you, like rain sinks inside the ground. Listen what Allah says. He says, “Ask for froth…”

You know what froth is? When rain comes there are pebbles on the ground, dry leaves on the ground, twigs on the ground. They’re basically dirt. They’re dirty. What does floodwater do? It washes it away, right?

Allah said, “Ask for the froth…”

And you know when… water foams up, it’s also called “zabad” (زَبَدٌ). You know when… flood waters form up and bubbly and dirty? That’s called “zabad” (زَبَدٌ).

He says, “As for that foam, it shall wash away.”

“And as for what benefits people will go deep inside the soil.”

What’s He talking about?

When there’s words being said. There’s words being said by people. There’s words being written by people. But many of those words are nothing, but what? Froth.

It’ll come and look like it’s a flood but it’s just dirty. It’ll get washed away. And the thing that will remain is the water that goes deep inside the earth, and what will produce? Trees and life will be produced.

Understand the Difference between the Power of the Word of Allah and the Filthy Words of People

Understand the difference between the power of the word of Allah and the filthy words of people. These people’s words will come and go and they will disappear. They will have no mark in history. They will have no impact in the world.

And we have what can transform the world. Transform it. Completely transform your world and the world around you. Transform your business, transform your school, transform your neighborhood. But we want to go top down. We want government the change. We want civilization to change. Us versus Them. No!

Plant a seed. Let its shade fall on the believer and the disbeliever. Let even the one who never knew what to believe, feel its shade and eat of its fruit and say, “Wow!”

“How come?”

So people were yelling at you because you were planting that tree, “I want to, I want to join the farm.”

“I want to be part of that garden.”

Become that! Seriously contemplate what I… What I’m trying to get across and I pray to have some clarity in what I’m trying to get across. We need to stop thinking that our angry outbursts, our momentary outbursts are some kind of a solution. Because they’re not.

Yes, you can have legitimate within legal means. Responses, reactions, letters, even… I even say recommend lawsuits. I even recommend it.

You don’t think those kinds of cartoons are traumatic to children? That.. that’s not offensive to children? You don’t think that… that hurts their psyche? And we shouldn’t stand up for the mental health at least of the… our children? These are not worth legal action? Absolutely they are. Absolutely. No way around it!

Take all of those actions but understand something. Those are just reactions. That’s not the action needed. That’s the reaction for the time being. The real action needed is for this Ummah to wake up, to actually be someone that Rasulullah (ﷺ) can make syafa’at for on judgment day.

“These are the people who carried my word.”

“Let the one who’s here deliver it to the one who’s not here.”

Well, you know what? Ain’t nobody here. We’re here now. We’re… we got to deliver it. We got to stand for it. You really love your Prophet (ﷺ)? Then take on his mission. Represent it! You really love your Prophet (ﷺ)? Let me be try to be more like him and be proud of being like him. Stand by it.

And from there Allah’s help will come. From there these challenges will come and they will fall off like froth. And what stays deep inside will make us firm.

“Make our feet firm and aid us against those who disbelieve.”

May Allah (عَزَّ وّ جَلَّ) give us a sense of our responsibility to Allah and his Messengers (ﷺ). May Allah (عَزَّ وّ جَلَّ) never allow our love, and our respect, and our honor for our beloved Messengers (ﷺ) to be decreased. May Allah (عَزَّ وّ جَلَّ) allow… never allow these people’s failed attempts dishonoring the Messengers (ﷺ) to make their way into our hearts. And may Allah (عَزَّ وّ جَلَّ) make us truly the defenders of the nobility and the legacy of Muhammad Rasulullah (ﷺ) and the word of Allah.

Conclusion

Before I conclude. I just wanted to add something that I didn’t think of in the khutbah. But I’m just making an appeal to everyone, including myself, but to everyone.

We need a Renaissance in this Ummat. We need the brightest young minds to be the most educated in their religion, and to be the most educated historians, political, scientists, anthropologists, psychologists, economists. You need to be the best of both worlds. You need to be leading in every sphere of life. You need to be the mark of excellence.

When people think of the top in their field, they think of the people that say La ilaha illallah. When you do… When you lead the world in both. When you lead the world in both, then you see who insults you? Then you see.

Allah gave us these ayat to study. The ayat of creation. He gave them to us to study, just like He gave us the ayat of revelation to study.

It’s time that we held ourselves to a higher, higher, much higher standard. Every single one of you. Young people, men and women that are listening to me. What is it that you’re going to accomplish in your life? Set your goals high out of love of your Messenger (ﷺ).
